AC Capacitor Repair & Replacement
Is your air conditioner making a clicking or humming sound but won't start? You likely have a "blown" capacitor. In the intense Las Vegas heat, capacitors are the most common cause of AC failure. At Amuni Air Conditioning and Heating LLC, we provide fast, affordable capacitor testing and replacement to get your cooling back online.

What is an AC Capacitor?
Think of a capacitor as a high-powered battery that gives your AC motors the massive "jolt" of energy they need to start running. Once the motor is spinning, the capacitor provides a steady power supply to keep it going.
There are two main types we service:
Start Capacitors: Provides the initial torque to get the compressor or motor moving.
Run Capacitors: Stays active while the unit is running to maintain energy efficiency and smooth operation.
Signs Your Capacitor Has Failed
Because the capacitor handles high-voltage electricity, it often gives off clear warning signs when it’s reaching the end of its life:
The "Hum of Death": You hear the outdoor unit trying to start (a loud hum), but the fan blades aren't spinning.
Hard Starting: The AC takes a long time to kick on or stutters before starting.
Visual Distortion: The top of the capacitor is "domed" or bulging rather than flat.
Oozing Liquid: In extreme cases, the oil inside the capacitor may leak out due to overheating.
Why Las Vegas Heat Kills Capacitors
Capacitors are incredibly sensitive to heat. When the Las Vegas valley hits 110°F+, the internal temperature of your AC cabinet can climb much higher. This causes the internal chemicals to expand and eventually pop the safety seal, rendering the part useless.
Pro Tip: If your AC isn't cooling, turn it off immediately. Forcing a system to run with a bad capacitor can burn out your expensive fan motor or compressor.
Our Replacement Process
Safe Discharge: Capacitors store electricity even when the power is off. Our technicians safely discharge the stored energy before handling.
Microfarad Testing: We use a multimeter to measure the "MFD" rating. If it’s more than 5% off the factory spec, it needs to be replaced.
High-Quality Replacements: We carry heavy-duty, "USA-made" or high-heat rated capacitors that are built to withstand Nevada summers better than cheap factory parts.
Wiring Inspection: We check for burnt or pitted "spade" connectors to ensure a solid electrical connection.
Get a Fast, Honest Fix
A capacitor is a relatively inexpensive part, but many companies use it as an excuse to sell you a whole new system. We don't. We’ll show you the test results and get you back to comfort for a fair price.
Free Second Opinions: Was another company's repair quote too high? Call Amuni. We offer Free Second Opinions to ensure you aren't being overcharged for simple electrical repairs.
